AGENDA

Guest Speaker: Friends of the Gaiety Theater

This group of experts on historic theater preservation will give their slide show on the Gaiety, which is now endangered by the proposed Kensington Place project.  This project is a major process problem; it  would seriously violate City zoning, the BRA's Midtown Cultural District Plan, and the Urban Renewal Plan.  Comments from the public, including the ABN, several Chinatown groups, and the Park Plaza Civic Advisory Committee, have been ignored by the BRA, which has promised the developer to approve the project as is, and has refused to require an alternative design for comparative evaluation.

This is a rare opportunity to see the Gaiety and learn about its architecture and history.

It also shows what we will lose here if we allow community-based planning and zoning to be violated.

Free and open to the public.  Everyone is welcome -- come and bring your friends and neighbors!
